HopToDesk Quick Support: Remote Help Without the Setup
We've all been there. Someone calls you for help with their computer, and before you can even look at the problem, you have to walk them through downloading software, finding their ID, reading out a password, and hoping they don't accidentally close the window. By the time you're connected, half the call is already gone.
HopToDesk Quick Support was built to solve exactly that.
What Is Quick Support?
Quick Support is a lightweight, portable version of HopToDesk designed for one thing: getting help fast. It's a small, standalone executable that the person needing support can download and run with no installation required. It opens a compact window showing just two things: their ID and a temporary password. That's all the information you need to connect and start helping.
No setup wizards. No account creation. No configuration. Just run it, share the ID and password, and you're connected.
How It Works
The person needing help downloads the Quick Support file (qs.exe on Windows, or the equivalent on Mac and Linux).
They double-click to run it. A small, clean window appears showing their ID and password.
They share those details with you over the phone, chat, or email.
You enter their ID and password in your full HopToDesk app and connect.
The entire process takes under a minute, even for someone who has never used remote desktop software before.
Designed to Stay Out of the Way
The Quick Support window is intentionally minimal. It can't be maximized or resized, and it shows only what matters: the connection credentials. There are no extra buttons, no settings panels, and no features that might confuse someone who just wants help with their computer.
This matters more than you might think. When someone is already frustrated with a tech problem, the last thing they need is a complicated tool adding to their stress. Quick Support keeps things calm and simple.
Why Not Just Use the Full App?
The full HopToDesk client is great for IT professionals, power users, and anyone who needs to both give and receive remote support regularly. But for the person on the other end of a one-time support call, it's more than they need.
Quick Support strips away everything that isn't essential for receiving help:
No ability to initiate outgoing connections
No session management interface
No dashboard or ticketing features
No installation footprint on the system
It's purpose-built for the person who just needs to let someone in to fix a problem, then move on with their day.
Perfect For
Family tech support: Send your parents a link to download Quick Support and walk them through running it. One small window, two numbers to read out, done.
Customer support teams: Host the Quick Support download on your website so customers can get connected to your support agents in seconds.
One-time help requests: When a friend or colleague needs a hand but doesn't want to install anything permanent on their machine.
Non-technical users: The stripped-down interface means there's almost nothing that can go wrong or cause confusion.
Same Security, Smaller Package
Quick Support uses the same encrypted, peer-to-peer connections as the full HopToDesk application. The temporary password is generated fresh each time, and no data is stored after the session ends. The person receiving help stays in control and can close the window at any time to end the session.
